In June, 2003, owner Mark Alan Cirino was working at a small software company in Marin County—and commuting weekly from Sacramento. After many years toiling in the hi-tech industry, and many, many miles commuting, he was ready for a change. When his employers sold the company, they rewarded him for his 5 years of service with a very nice severance package. Immediately, he decided to move to Fort Bragg and open a sandwich shop.
Of course, everyone thought he was crazy, but Mark was determined to go after his dream. In October of 2003, while visiting from Pennsylvania, Mark's mom spotted a "For Rent" sign in a little shop on Laurel Steet and told him, "There's your sandwich shop!" Later that night, Mark contacted the landlord and within a month he'd signed a lease started planning.
Over the next ten months, the little 300 sqare foot shop was torn apart and rebuilt. On September 29th, 2004 Cirino's Sandwich Shop opened. Mark's mom returned for the grand opening and the whole street pitched in to make the first day a great success.
Now, Cirino's has become a Fort Bragg favorite with locals and vistors. We look forward to serving the best sandwiches and salads in town for a very long time to come.
Thanks Fort Bragg!
